About Me

My photo
I am a freelance writer for newspapers, magazines as well as a journalist for TV.
I am from Tokyo, Japan and have been living in Los Angeles since 1990.

This Tuesday & Wednesday, I was at the KINGPINS SHOW (  / I wrote about this show in July 26, 2011 in my blog “At the Kingpins Show” / the KINGPINS SHOW is a boutique global denim and jeans supply chain show).

I love KINGPINS SHOW, because the owner of this show Mr. Andrew Olah is the best = this show is the best!

Like attracts like…This word is for this show.

At this KINGPINS SHOW, I always meet great people, find great products & stories and eat great food :)  Yes, great food is the key word for happiness = great life style + good luck.

Attendees are the owners & designers of the major denim companies, and exhibiters are the major denim fabric companies, denim factories etc.

I interviewed with Mr. Andrew Olah (Owner of KINGPINS SHOW), Mr. Toyoo Tashiro (CEO of HOWA), Mr. Shinzo Suzuki (President of Howa Denim-Tech), Mr. Kenshi Kawano (President of Kurabo China), Mr. Yukihisa Ono (TSS CO., LTD.), Ms.Sarina Matsumi (Color de kips), Mr. Ikuma Izutsu (NICE CORPORATION CO., LTD.), Mr. Yasuhiro Konaka (NAKAJU HIFUKU KOGYO CO., LTD.), Mr. Kohei Takakubo (Rainbow Textiles), Ms. Jean T. & Ms. Rita Ratskoff (INVISTA), Ms. Susan J. Mocarski & Mr. Michael Kininmonth (LENZING FIBERS), Mr. James Lau & Mr. Jack Duan (Advance Denim Co., Ltd.), Ms. Georgianna Lau (MOU FUNG LIMITED), Ms. Irene Lin (FULL BLOSSOM CO., LTD.), Mr. Zeeshan Mehboob (ARTISTIC FABRIC MILLS), Mr. Tony Shibata (President of Jameric Japan Inc.), Mr. Salman A. Moten & Mr. Muhammad Mansoor Bilal (SOORTY), Mr. Meir Barbut & Mr. Emir Eskinazi (RiMAKS), Mr. Tadd Zarubica (TZ Innovations) and Mr. Chris Price (blue farm textile limited).

And, and… I interviewed with Mr. *** (Saitex International). Oh no… I guess I left his business card on his table or I dropped his card on the floor… I can’t find it. I remember that he is from Belgium and I told him that I love Belgium chocolate and he asked me “Are you thirsty”, then he brought sodas for us, then we had soda during we were talking about his products and business. It seems, I lost my mind by Belgium chocolate & I lost his business card… (I was dreaming about the Belgium chocolate!)

During lunch time on Monday, I had a great time with Mr. Mik Serfontaine (Co-founder of Serfontaine). We talked over an hour. He always has great stories and I always enjoy his stories. He will bring the new brand soon (I will get a scoop from him soon!)

On Tuesday, during the lunch, I also had a nice conversation with the manager, Ms. Mila Chan of PANDA CATERING (  / their food is the best!!! I had chicken sandwich, pasta salad, potato salad and banana pudding on Monday, and I ate two plates of a full Italian buffet on Tuesday. Especially the sun-dried tomato alfredo linguine was amazing!) and Ms. Maria Duman (owner of cappuccino bar catering, Lattes on Location ). Her cappuccino gave me a lot of energy!

Andrew (the owner of KINGPINS SHOW) knows about the quality of life. He brings the great people & products & food, which means he brings happiness to everyone. He is the best host for trade show. His trade show is the best, and his show is my favorite trade show in L.A.

Last night, I finished writing my article for Senken-Shimbun (the major Japanese fashion trade newspaper, similar to WWD and California Apparel News). I enjoyed writing about Andrew’s business.

I had great two days at KINGPINS SHOW :)

P.S. My friend, Tony-san (my good friend / a president of Jameric Japan Inc. / he is a very famous Japanese denim expert / he made a big trend of True Religion Brand Jeans in Japan etc…) took me to the best yakitori place Kokekokko on Tuesday night (he usually takes me to Sushi Gen, but he took me to a yakitori place that night). I always have fun with his love life stories (he is a very play boy…! Oops…I should stop writing about his stories in my blog… I am going to write about his stories in my novels, instead…ha ha ha…!)

#271-Why people fight?

Why do human beings keep fighting with each other or fighting wars?

About profit?

About territory?

About religion?

About ethnicity?

About statism?

About collectivism?

Why can’t we talk instead of fight (war)?

People are trying to change others…

People don’t want to change for others…

People think “I am right, you are wrong”…

I was thinking about “how can we resolve issues of terrorism and war in this world, can we talk instead of fighting?”

And then I realized “I need to think about my issue first” (since I moved into my apartment in Montrose one year ago)… yes, I have an issue about my living situation… my upstairs neighbor (64 years old woman who is not working) has been waking me up every night (around 11:15pm, 12:15am and 1:15am) with loud squeezing footsteps (it sounds not normal & regular footsteps) for one year… I had to call police twice, and I fought with this neighbor twice…

I tried to go to bed at the same time when this neighbor goes to bed… it doesn’t work (for me late night ene…

Title of this column: From L.A. “Slut?”

Since a few years ago, I have been noticing the egg shape sign of “eggslut” ( on the way to L.A. fashion district in downtown Los Angeles.

“Slut” means in Japanese “bimbo”, “whore”, “hooker” and “slut”.
“eggslut (a woman is sleeping around with eggs)”? This shocking name of the restaurant has been bringing curiosity to me.

This restaurant (“eggslut”) has a counter at the “Grand Central Market” which is also famous as a tourist popular spot, and when I drive by this place my curiosity about this place is getting bigger and bigger, because I always see a long line in front of…

#273- My last email to an upstairs neighbor

After I watched abc TV 20/20 CATFISH episode (Hooking a Catfish) “How this Canadian woman catfished an NBA star and an aspiring model, almost ruining their lives” ( , I totally understood about how my upstairs neighbor (woman) is thinking…
These sick women are boring about their lives and they want to make other people miserable like them.
As I wrote my blog post on April 19, 2017, I’m having a trouble with an upstairs neighbor… I was very angry but lately I feel sorry for her… she is a lonely woman (she only goes out two hours per week for grocery shopping, she doesn’t have any visitors, she is similar to that Canadian woman) and she wants someone’s attention to make her life excite and fun (in this case “evil fun”)…

For me no matter what, I’m always happy… I appreciate my life…

Today after I saw this upstairs woman was walking around my home and peeking my home (where I sit or what am I …
